The chloride process involves the reduction of titanium tetrachloride with coke in a furnace to produce titanium dioxide.

Once the titanium dioxide has been produced, it is washed, dried, and ground into a fine powder. The powder is then classified according to particle size and packaged for distribution to manufacturers of finished products.
